How it Works

Deer processing is seasonal. Deer are accepted on a first come, first serve basis starting on the 1st Saturday of December. We are open for drop-off of field dressed deer between 8 AM and 2 PM or by appointment.

Your Deer...

Must be kept cool and properly field dressed. (If the animal is not field dressed in approximately two hours from the time it was shot, the meat will most likely spoil and become unfit for processing.) Deer not suitable for eating, will not be accepted for processing. Any meat brought in a scented garbage bag will also be refused.

Do I get my own meat back and how long does it take?

We process deer just like we process chickens. We tag and process one at a time so that you get your own meat back on items processed in-house (ground, steaks and roasts). We process the deer in the order it is received and you can expect your in-house items to be available for pick-up in 3 to 7 days. Specialty items will have a longer turn around time. We will call you when your order is ready for pick-up.

What cuts are available and how will it be packaged?

You can choose roast, steak, loin and ground. These items are all vacuum packed except the ground which is packaged in 2 pound plastic packages.

What if I want specialty items like jerky and sausages?

We have teamed up with Wahoo Locker in Wahoo, NE to provide you with all the specialty items that you may want. Wahoo Locker makes breakfast sausage and cooked products in larger batches, so it is impossible for them to keep deer meat separate for this. They are selective as to which meat goes into their sausage products. You can rest assured they are using only the best.

How are specialty products priced?

Restructured jerky, and muscle jerky prices are based on the starting weight. All other cooked products are based on finished weight, with the added pork included in the finished weight cost.

How much gain or shrink is there on specialty products?

Although the following examples aren't exact, they will give you an idea of what to expect:

Jerky: 10 lbs. deer yields 4.5 lbs. finished product.

Muscle Jerky: 10 lbs. deer yields 4 lbs. finished product.

Snack Sticks: 10 lbs. deer + 5 lbs. pork = 15 lbs. This is the amount your would be charged for. There is some
shrinkage on the sticks when they are cooked so you would receive 12 lbs. back.
